Watchlist

About Us

Our Editorial Team and Verification Process

Watchlist is maintained by a small editorial team with backgrounds in property law, real estate, and professional regulation. We verify credentials and maintain accurate information about property professionals across South Africa.

Our Verification Standards

Every professional listed in our directory undergoes a verification process before their profile appears on the site. This process includes confirming current registration status with the relevant professional council or regulatory body.

For attorneys and conveyancers, we verify registration with the provincial Law Society and check for any disciplinary actions or practice restrictions. For architects, we confirm registration with the South African Council for the Architectural Profession (SACAP). Quantity surveyors must hold current registration with the Association of South African Quantity Surveyors (ASAQS).

Land surveyors are verified through the Professional Land Surveyors and Technical Officers Council (PLATO). For other professional categories, we verify qualifications, professional memberships, and any relevant certifications.

This verification process is repeated annually to ensure all information remains current. If a professional's registration lapses or they face disciplinary action, their listing is suspended until the matter is resolved.

How We Maintain Independence

  • Flat Annual Fee Model: We charge professionals a single annual fee to appear in our directory. This fee is the same regardless of how many enquiries they receive or whether they gain clients through our platform.
  • No Referral Commissions: We do not receive any payment when a user contacts a professional through our directory. There are no referral fees, success fees, or commission structures.
  • Equal Visibility: All verified professionals within a category receive equal placement in search results. We do not offer premium placements or featured listings in exchange for higher fees.
  • No Recommendations: Our directory provides information but does not recommend specific professionals. We present verified credentials and let users make their own informed decisions.
  • Transparent Methodology: Our verification process and business model are clearly explained. We do not have undisclosed relationships with any listed professionals.

    Our Commitment to Users

We built Watchlist because finding verified property professionals in South Africa can be challenging. Many directories prioritize professionals who pay for placement or generate referral revenue. We wanted to create something different.

Our directory exists to provide transparent, verified information without the conflicts of interest that come from commission-based models. We succeed when users can easily find accurate information about qualified professionals in their area.

We continuously work to improve our verification processes, expand our coverage, and ensure the information we provide remains accurate and useful. If you notice any inaccuracies or have suggestions for improvement, we encourage you to contact us.
